Colorimetric Chemical Analysis
Under the action of appropriate chemical
reagents, samples develop a specific colour that reveals the
presence and concentration of the substance being tested.
Using the Lovibond® Comparator System 2000, Tintometer Ltd has
simplified the procedure for many popular colorimetric tests by
supplying standard methods and a corresponding series of
ready-made coloured glass filters, which are calibrated to
allow direct measurement of concentration levels.
It is based on a the following system
components:
1. Comparator instrument to bring the
treated sample and the glass filters together for colour
matching
2. Lighting unit (optional) to ensure
constant viewing conditions for colour matching
3. Test disc containing a series of graded
glass filters which have been graded to give
direct concentration values
4. Sample container of the required path
length

Customised Colorimetric Tests
Although, over the years, Tintometer Ltd
has developed standard test methods and coloured glass filters
for a wide selection of colorimetric tests, we are still
approached by customers wishing to conduct colorimetric tests
that are not included in the standard Lovibond® range.
If possible, in these cases Tintometer Ltd will produce a
special series of glass filters, mounted in a disc, which are
matched to the colour standards specified in the test.
