Umwälzendes Kühlwasser erfordert sorgfältig ausgewählte chemische Behandlungen. Dies trägt dazu bei, mikrobiologische Kontaminationen zu minimieren, kritische Dinge wie Wärmetauscher zu beobachten und Korrosion zu verhindern.

Um am effektivsten zu sein, müssen die Behandlungen innerhalb spezifischer Kontrollparameter gehalten werden, da ein überschüssiger Inhibitor eine ebenso schädliche Wirkung haben kann wie zu niedrig dosierter.
