Amines
Long chain aliphatic amines are widely used to combat corrosion. Octadecylamine is used to protect condensate lines by forming a protective film. Amines that are volatile in steam are used to neutralise carbon dioxide in boiler condensate. They are also used to increase the pH value of feedwater or boiler water in order to prevent corrosion.
